Somehow I turned on auto save/load state for all my SNES games and I'd rather turn that feature off. I can't recall how I could have done it, but I know I wasn't messing with the config files manually. Is there a way to create/change custom config files for a specific emulator/system from Emulation Station? I know how to change the global one from the Retropie menu, and I know how to create ones for specific games by getting to retroarch after loading the game, but I'm really stumped as to how I managed to create a console-specific config by accident.

Retroarch main menu -> Quick Menu -> Save Core Overrides. If you want to use core-specific (console-specific) shader options too, you can do it in the Shaders -> Save Core Preset.

System specific RA config files are stored in /opt/retropie/configs/<system> - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#config-hierarchy.

Check if your SNES system retroarch.cfg has anything saved (should be mostly empty).
