Just setting up new card with a fresh install.

All goes well, then I update the script and then update as normal, it downloads and updates stuff, then reboots.

Now it boots to prompt asking to log in.... last time I updated a few months ago, never got that.

      Is this new ?

What do I put, I tried Pi, admin, retorpie, nothing seems log me in

Up until now I have been doing this:
      Update RetroPie-Setup Script
      Update All Installed Packages
      Perform Reboot

Using 3B+ with a Sandisk Card with 4.4 download (does the same with 3B) if I update an older already working setup it kills it he same way.

Just tired another card, steps I did:
      Flashed new 4.4 image
      First boot OK
      Retropie setup
      Update
Prompted to update Installed packages, said YES
      (It fetches that OK)
Prompted to update OS packages and kernel, said YES
      (starts download and updates)
Finishes and said completed OK, shows 4.4.4 is installed
      Then reboot

      Then get the prompt :

      Raspbian GNU/Linux 9 retropie tty1 / retropie login

      RPi 1b / 2b / 3b / 3b+ / Zero W
iBuffalo gamepad / Logitech F310 gamepad / NeoGeoX ArcadeStick / Retroflag case and Controller

@raymate Raspbian updates (systemd package) will disable the auto-login settings added by RetroPie. Login as user pi (password raspberry) and enable the auto-login to console from raspi-config - see here - then reboot to get back to automatically starting Emulationstation on boot.
