pcsx-rearmed plays fine but lr-pcsx-rearmed has major sound distortion and slowdown

Pi Model: 3B+
Power Supply used: Official
RetroPie Version Used: 4.4.4
Built From: SD image from Retropie site
USB Devices connected: wireless keyboard, iNNEXT snes controllerLike I said in the title, lr-pcsx-rearmed isn't working well, so I installed pcsx-rearmed which does much better. But it's annoying to use the non-lr emulator for reasons you probably already know, so I'd really like to figure out why lr is performing so poorly.
I have all the BIOS files on the pi as far as I can tell. I tried updating lr-pcsx-rearmed but it didn't help. The game I'm testing is Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, and right from the get-go the opening song is all slow and jittery. Plays perfect on the other emulator though, and as far as I can tell most people normally have no problems playing PSX roms. What the heck!

@brimby Make sure you disabled rewind, read ahead, and any other option that is known to cause major slowdowns. Apart from this, lr-pcsx-rearmed is working pretty well on rpi3 for me.
-
@barbudreadmon You were right it was the rewind. Thanks a ton!
-
@brimby rewind is disabled in retropie by default, so that's maybe a concern!
-
@barbudreadmon By "read ahead", did you mean fast-forward?

@brimby said in pcsx-rearmed plays fine but lr-pcsx-rearmed has major sound distortion and slowdown:
@barbudreadmon By "read ahead", did you mean fast-forward?
No, read ahead is the thing to reduce input latency
