N64 controller and games hotkey trouble.
-
I just got a wired usb N64 off brand controller off amazon and it works fine but no matter how I configure my controls I'm still not able to use the hotkeys to save, load, or bring up Retroarch menu. I've tried tons of button schemes and even made sure to set buttons for select, X, both shoulder buttons and made absolutely sure what my hotkey button was. Sometimes I'm able to use select and start simultaneously to exit games but I'm never able to bring up retroarch menu or anything else even with the X button assigned. I'm still new at this and I've tried to find solutions with no success.

@Dustin_3487 the hotkeys don't work for all systems or a specific system?

@quicksilver
I only used it for n64 games, it's the lrmupen64 emulator. I can't use hotkeys for the n64 games and I could probably use my ps3 controller but I wanted to use the usb n64 contoller for a more realistic experience. -
@Dustin_3487 can you post how you mapped your N64 controller? Seems like there must be something odd with how you mapped it.

@quicksilver I've done tons of mapping schemes. I did the one as suggested on one of the main pages for retropie controller layouts, I'll try to find the page, but it doesnt have a button listed for "x" for I made a layout with a random other button used for x. You have to have a button for x right?

That's the page I used to map my controls.
