Can't boot strictly to Raspbian desktop
-
Hello. After installing RetroPie on top of Raspbian I can't automaticly boot to Raspbian desktop. It's goes like this: after turning on raspberry I get some blablabla with that green OK on the left, then I see the RetroPie splash screen for few seconds, and then I see Raspbian desktop for a while and then it put me back to terminal. I can launch desktop by typing startx, or RetroPie by typing emulationstation. I've installed Retropie by instructions from github, and Raspbian Strech on sd card (without NOOBS). I've already tried to change boot setting via raspi-config, but it doesn't help me (it seems like it doesn't save settings after reboot). I've tried to edit manually autostart.sh, but I don't have that file in /opt/retropie/and so on).
Pi Model or other hardware: 3B
Power Supply used: 5V, 2.5 A
RetroPie Version Used: that version from install script (I've update it via that blue menu after installation)
Built From: on top of Raspbian Strech (lastest version from website)
USB Devices connected: wired mouse, wireless keyboard
Controller used: none
Error messages received: none
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): none
Guide used: manual installation from github
File: none
Emulator: none
Attachment of config files: none
How to replicate the problem: ? -
Have you tried uninstalling the
splashscreen
package from the RetroPie-Setup menu ? -
@mitu wow, thanks :D I tried and it's working. This should be in RetroPie FAQ on github.
-
@Krisu I think it is - I remember being a FAQ about disabling the splashscreen, but it seems that is not. Maybe because the canonical way to run the Desktop is to install it through RetroPie script and then start it from Emulationstation.

@mitu You're right. I checked that, and there is something about that, but it's unclear (at least for me, 'couse I read it before).
Anyway, thank you again :>
