240p Over HDMI to Component Converter. (Almost Got It)

I am using the Pi 3

I have been trying to get 240p "hdmi_mode=8" over hdmi and I am very close now. as seen here:

I am using this converter and it is working for the most part and is nice and crisp:https://www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-hdmi-to-component-converter?variant=5717010885

The TV is producing 240p and natural scanlines. I had to do a few tweaks to the retroarch configs, but I cant seem to get rid of the vertical scrolling as seen in the video.

I also tried 480i and it works, but I dont like the flicker and could not get any scanline shaders to look right.
the 240p image looks much better for 8/16bit.

Any ideas?
The only tweaks to the boot/config.txt was:
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=8

Interesting find. Your picture seems to be rolling smoothly, maybe the adapter is missing vertical sync signal or your TV can't vsync to what is being output. Don't have a Pi with me now, but I recall in rgui you can play around with vsync or set 50 or 60Hz, give that a try? Could be a simple fix.

@tekn0 the scanline shaders need at least 4 pixels for every one line to look right, so 480i for a 240 image wouldn't be optimal. plus, don't you already have scanlines? :)

@dankcushions Exactly. I am not outputting 480i at all. It's 240p over hdmi mode 8. (HDMI_CEA_240p60 = 8).

I am just trying to resolve the sync issues.

@senkun The rolling screen also happens everywhere else. In all menus and gui's. It's happening at the boot level. Thats why I think it's fixable with some config.txt entries. I just don't know what.

this is (almost) awesome! I fear that something physical needs done to the cable, like wiring a positional wire, like RGB sometime needs horizontal and vertical timing, does it do it at any other similar resolutions, like 480i?
