NO AUDIO IN RETROPIE!
-
For my Retropie setup I have a raspberry pi 3B+ running Retropie, VGA to HDMI for display and for audio I have my Kinter MA170 12V 2 Channel Mini Digital Audio Power Amplifier with 2 small 2" Gilfunk Speakers with the output being RCA (red/white) to Audio Jack running into the Pi. Getting no audio and am guessing I need to mess around with the config.txt file. Does anyone know what to change/add to get audio working?

Note that audio works fine when using my HDTV to my Pi, but when I use the adapter VGA to HDMI to my Dell 1908FPc monitor in addition to my setup mentioned above I get nothing.
I connected the amp/jack to my phone and it worked fine so I somehow need to tell the Pi to output audio to the jack.

@nasonjo https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/audio-config.md
The section about enabling 3.5mm audio in raspi-config should be what you are looking for

Thanks! Got it working but I can barely hear the audio, I have to put me ear right next to the speaker... any reason this could be happening. They are only 2" Cheap Amazon speakers but they are plenty loud enough when hooking up to a phone... Any way to turn the volume up besides the amp?

@nasonjo Have you tried using the
Audio
volume in Emulationstation ? You can always drop down to the command line and usealsamixer
to set up the audio card volume to the max, then just adjust the speakers' volume. Usesudo alsactl store
to save the volume settings between reboots, once you set the desired audio volume throughalsamixer

@mitu worked great! Speakers are installed and volume sounds great! Thanks!
