I have successfully enabled High Resolution Texture Packs on my overclock Raspberry Pi 3 check out the video for the results.

I was curious so I enabled Hi-Res Texture packs and tried to load them and am supper happy with the results.
It requires jumping through a few hoops to get this to work but I am communicating with the devs to get this process simplified.
If you want to try at home,
You will need to enable Hi_res textures by editing the mupen64plus.conf file under the rice category.so edit the
/opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg file andlook for
Enable hi-resolution texture file loading
LoadHiResTextures = False
and change the flag from False to TrueThen go download you some Hi-Res Texture packs
on your pi
cd /home/pi/.local/share/mupen64plus/hires_texturethen create the following directories.
mkdir Diddy Kong Racing
mkdir MARIOKART64
mkdir PAPER MARIO
mkdir SMASH BROTHERS
mkdir STARFOX64
mkdir WAVE RACE 64
mkdir THE LEGEND OF ZELDAAnd upload the root of any hi-res texture packs you download into those directories. The folder name as to match the core name of the rom that is booted .
on your pi press F4 make sure you are at terminal
cd /home/pi/retropie/roms/n64then use the command
/opt/retopie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plush.sh mupen64plus-video-rice rom nameremembering to replace the rom name with the name of the rom you are launching.
That should work
Let me know if you have any questions and I will update here as I make further progress.
Already pretty sure I can do the same thing with Glide just need more time to investigate will update you soon.
To do:
Figure out how to get it enabled and running via runcommand. -
Smashing! Thanks for sharing! Gotta have to try this out.
-
Thanks for sharing Twitch, they look sharp!

Very cool!!! I could see a major difference in all the games you covered but the one that really stood out to me was Majora's Mask. I was waiting to see what Smash bros would look like. In my personal experience though, I found that Smash Bros performed best with Glide. If you don't mind no faces on the characters. So maybe that's why you didn't get around to Smash bros? Either way excellent work on testing out High Res textures!!!

okay so my rom name for mario kart 64 is , Mario Kart 64 (U) [!]
Do i need to rename it to MARIOKART64? Or will current rom name be fine?

@dankcushions i see... no one was answering so i assumed it got buried. my bad
Do you know the answer to this?
-
@red2blue you asked this question 2 weeks ago. Just try it as it is. If it doesn't work then change the file name of the ROM.
It all depends on how the ROM in named in the header. -
@jonnykesh thats what im asking tho how do i find out the name in the header?
Cause when i ran that command "/opt/retopie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plush.sh mupen64plus-video-rice rom name"
replacing romname with MARIOKART64 nothing happened, but when i typed the full rom name with the .z64 extension at the end, it worked.
