[SOLVED] 8bitdo and dualschock 3 at same time
-
I have a 8bitdo controller (SF30) and a dualshock 3 to use with retropie - I used than normally on recalbox before install retropie.
So, the problem:
- when I connect only 8bitdo everythings working fine: 8bitdo is detected as 8bitdo and so on.
- But, if I register dualshock3 the things change. The 8bitdo is now recognized as szmy-power. If connected alone, works fine. If connected together with dualshock, is no more responsible, with much more lag and delay.
OS version: retropie 4.4
hardware: raspberry pi 3 b, 8bitdo (SF30) and DualShock3UPDATE (SOLVED): follow this topic: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/15967/sony-dualshock-3-call-for-testers-sixaxis-script-module/

@rodrigoleao I have (almost) the same setup than you (NES30Pro + DS3).
I guess you are using the (soon to be deprecated)ps3controller
driver. I highly recommend you to give a try to the upcoming replacement by @psyke83 here:https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/15967/sony-dualshock-3-call-for-testers-sixaxis-script-module/
It works just fine when mixing these two controllers.

@hhromic thanks to the reply! I will test your tip and post here the results!

@rodrigoleao no problem.
I would suggest you that instead post your results on that sixaxis topic. In there, more users that are also testing the sixaxis module will be able to help you better. -

Yes! I will post there too.I do what the topic recommend and it's work! Now the 8bitdo controller is recognized as such. However, when both controllers are connected, I realize much delay. Not so bad as it used to be, but even so, a delay. Is it happen with your setup too? I'm using the default bluetooth of raspberry pi 3.

@rodrigoleao Using the on-board BT can be spotty when multiple controllers are used. The 3B+ model has an improved chip that alleviates this, but as a workaround you can either try to disable the Wifi (
sudo rfkill block wifi
to turn off,sudo rfkill unblock wifi
to turn on) or get an USB bluetooth dongle to use. -

Yes it happens a bit for me too sometimes. I have both, a Raspberry PI 3B and 3B+, and as @mitu says the bluetooth of the plus is way better (but not perfect) than the normal one.
Also make sure that the battery of the 8bitdo controller is charged, I found out that when it's about to get flat, it has a lot of latency/delays in response.
Good you sorted out your problem!
