Lightgun games on RetroPie - Time Crisis / Point Blank / Duck Hunt

It might be a good opportunity to mention it : i recently added support for lightgun in fbalpha (
Quick Menu > Controls
then set Lightgun as device type), i'm eagerly waiting for some feedback since i don't own a lightgun. -

Most likely, the implementation was around 2 weeks ago so idk if the binary version got updated since then. I was thinking of recommending gunbustr but the "dpad on lightgun" thing might not be standard and not included on your model ? Maybe something more classic like opwolf then ?
-
@barbudreadmon Would it work with Master System and Megadrive in FBAlpha? Thanks
-
@pjft I just watched this new video using the lightgun. They played a few titles and does look promising

Money's tight right now but I had to back this. I can't wait! I hope you can get it into production. :-)
Rock on @MrLightgun !!!
-
@simpleethat @MrLightgun i am officially a supporter now too!! Looking forward to getting my gun later this year!! I was “this” close to being a dual wield supporter but I was a little worried about how the pi / its emulators would be able to cope with that! I am going to give the difference in money anyhow to the retropie donate page since I also think that is only fair - without this website I wouldn’t have my bartop arcade that I am now hoping to use the Sinden Lightgun on!
-
@MrLightgun No, gun isn't implemented machine-side on those systems atm, only arcade cabinets have this support.
-
Thanks for your support guys, I will be pushing Raspberry Pi Lightgun support for everyone even if you use other devices.

Ah OK never mind, we still have to sort of lr-genesis-plus-gx then. Any chance of Lightgun support in YabaSanshiro? That is the code base that runs on the Odroid XU4 for Saturn support right? Shame the Pi can't handle it.
-
What systems in Retropie have you gotten to work with it so far?
-
Hi Simplethat
NES - lr-fceumm / nestopia
PSX - lr-pcsx-rearmed
Sega Naomi - lr-reicast
Arcade - Mame
Dos - lr-dosboxI'm hopeful that support is not too far away in Snes (Snes9X), Master System, Genesis/Megadrive/MegaCD (genesis-plus-gx) and Dreamcast (lr-reicast). This is because there is already code implemented in these emulators that needs adapting rather than writing from scratch.

I plan on adding more "alternate controllers support" for the 3 yabause-based libretro cores in the future. Yeah this one run pretty well on XU4/N2, i don't think it's included in retropie's scripts though.
Support for lightgun might be added in the future too for the md/sms driver of fbalpha, did you give a try to arcade based games ?
-
@MrLightgun Does it work for Dreamcast shooters in lr-reicast or just Naomi? I'm so excited for October. Duck Hunt will be worth it alone but I always loved lightgun games.
Also, thank you for spending so much time and effort to make this work for all of us.

Just Naomi so far but there is code there that should do it for Dreamcast so we just need to work out where it is falling down. I need to get this code merged up as soon as I can so people can start playing. Hopefully inspire some of the more technical chaps to get more games working :-)

Test this in the next week hopefully. Will be great to add another system to the list :-)

lightgun.....on an lcd.....with no ir bar.......what sorcery is this...i suggest you avoid rural communities to avoid being burnt at the stake :P
on a more serious note im looking forward to this in all honesty i miss good old lightgun games and whilst i do have a crt tv stashed away the thing weighs a ton and only comes out and whilst i could use an ems topgun or somthing similer they never felt right to me
-
@MrLightgun I just checked out the Kickstart page and holy crap, there is definitely interest in this. I hope you can get it into actual production after the initial run. Keep up the good work sir.

is the lag due the Ras Pi? I remember seeing better response times on other vids.
