Questions about the Snex9x core variants
-
I've noticed RetroPie defaults to the Snes9x-2010 core due to issues with the SuperFx chip on Pi hardware via forum searching. However, I still have some issues. When attempting to use the more updated Snes9x core, the output on my high definition TV is not centered, and is outputted above the center of the screen for some reason. In other words, there's a blank area at the bottom of the screen. I've tried changing aspect ratio and it has had no effect.
Next issue is I cannot get the Start+Select combo to work with the current updated Snes9x core. I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to exit the game. Which subsequently reboots the device.
I do not understand the odd behavior of the current core, could someone please elaborate?

Are you sure you're using the Libretro core (
lr-snex9x
) and not the standalone emulator (snes9x
) ? -
@mitu Thanks. That was my problem exactly. But now I have another question - why is this romhack (note to anyone curious - this is not a ROM itself) not loading in lr-snes9x but loading in lr-snes9x2010? https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4129/ II don't even get a screen. But it loaded fine in plain Snes9x, even though the controls obviously didn't work through just loading up that emulator on RetroPie. Not like it uses the SuperFX chip or anything.... And regular Lufia 2 works on lr-Snes9x. Strange. Perhaps a question for the author of the hack?

I just wanted to say...I love Lufia 2!
