Unable to proceed on input setup - 8bitdo SN30
-
I'm trying to configure an 8bitdo BT controller after pressing the button on the keyboard to trigger a menu in RetroPie (in my case, SHIFT). I press shift and hold a button down. And I cannot get it to go to OK and proceed. Am I doing something wrong? Should I provide additional details? Here's some info on my config: Raspberry Pi 3B+ with Raspbian Stretch (updated as of today) and official image with official power supply from Canakit. RetroPie script was updated today. I have a Logitech USB and mouse combo attached.
-
Hard to describe. I tried configuring input with another controller and the menus are glitchy and unusable. Let me know what I can do to provide further detail - I just reformatted and I'm NOT doing it again.
-
Did you pair the controller via Bluetooth ?
-
Yes it's paired via BT. I even enabled udev rules for it.
-
Sorry meant to say keyboard and mouse combo via USB. Latest commit was today - Mon Feb 18 02:21:14 2019 +0000 according to git show. That should give an approximation of what version I'm on. I also see blank white boxes in emulationstation when initially entering it. I will grab some pictures.
-
OK, so when you get to the Input configuration dialog in ES, if you press a button, the gamepad is not detected ?
-
The gamepad is detected. But the menus bug out and don't respond. I got some strange terminal spam in one of my virtual terminals. I'll link to the images shortly. https://imgur.com/GEzgLf8

@MikeRL Did you reserve enough GPU RAM for your installation ? The RetroPie images ads 256Mb of VRAM by default, but if you installed from scratch, it will not be there. Can you post your
config.txt
? -
256MB VRAM you say? I should be able to modify that. I modded it to 260MB of a limit via the menu and it still is glitching out.
-
I have modified the values in RetroPie and in Raspbian. Thank you. It's fixed. I just hope this doesn't have a significant impact on other activities on the Pi sucj as simple web browsing.
