Space oddity help
-
Hey guys,
Just need some direction,
I added the Space Oddity to my retropie emulationstation.
Problem is that when I added the scrapper, the video plays on top of the
interface.I just want to know if there somewhere I can go fix this.

@wolfzrat I keep trying to reply but my post keeps getting flagged as spam for some dumb reason
Go into the file system on the pi (whether through the GUI or wincp or however you transfer/edit config files on the pi) Then navigate to /etc/emulationstation/themes and find the folder for space oddity. Inside you should find a file called something like "spaceoddity.xml" (im not sure because I haven't tried that theme). When you edit that file you will see an entry that says "Supported Feature = Video" under that you will see some values labeled "pos" "maxSize" and "origin" (or they may not be there and need to be added) those values will determine where the video plays and its scale. I imagine video support for that theme wasn't properly added yet. But if you edit those fields with some trial and error you should get what you want.
I was trying to post the code so you could see exactly how it needs to be but it kept getting flagged as spam.

@GoldManSex778 Thank you so much, let me go and give it a try and will keep you posted, I knew that I had to fix some code but was not sure where to begin, lol

@GoldManSex778 Sweet I found the file with the information as you described, Now! I managed to get it to where I want it, only issue now is that I want it to be underneath the template.
Here is a link of what I want it to look like
Here is the link to the theme code

@dudleydes Thank you for the assist, I indeed had it turned on because the videos were lagging, Now that the OMX player is off the video is behind the art but the video lags.
-
@wolfzrat Have you tried lowering the zIndex value for the video properties? In the xml you linked to the zIndex value for video is the same as the zIndex for some of the art. Try lowering the value below 65 and see if that helps, maybe even a negative number.
It may be that OMX doesn't follow those parameters for some reason, which would be annoying if that made you choose between a seemless theme with choppy video or an OCD inducing theme with smooth video. lol

It may be that OMX doesn't follow those parameters for some reason,
As @dudleydes said,
omxplayer
doesn't obey the z-index parameters and always renders above everything else - it's practically rendering the video on top of ES's textures. Changing the z-index doesn't help. However, the recent
vlc
versions (in Stretch) use the GPU HW decoder so switching off the OMX HW renderer might not be so bad. -
I know it is an old topic, but I really like Space Oddity theme and I cant disable OMXplayer, so I changed some values at the theme file and this was the result:
I changed pos and origin values, and replaced maxSize for size. You can see the file and change it by yourself, or just download and overwrite it
