Rpi3 to rpi3+ swap

Hello, I just installed a new image of retropie on my rpi3 and got all my roms and configs reloaded, I believe 4.4.9 version. I have all my settings where I want them. Well, curiosity got the cat and I purchased a rpi3+ board to try out and I was wondering if I'd be able to just swap my microsd card into the new pi and it work or if I'd have to go through the pain of reloading all my roms... The image is the newest version just installed.

@quicksilver I do have some but I think it's over clocked to 1400 which would be the stock clock on the rpi3+ any how. Any concerns for over clocking the rpi3+? Besides the typical risks..

@mahoneyt944 yes 1400 is the stock arm clock speed so you should be fine there. Only concern would be if you've overclocked the GPU or the sdram, since no two Pi's are the same your overclock on one potentially could be unstable on another. You'll need to retest completely on the new pi for stability (also a chance you can overclock even higher with the new pi). You should also be aware that the pi 3b+ has a temp soft limit that defaults to 60c. So when the pi reaches 60c it will down clock the CPU to 1200mhz. I would recommend changing the temp soft limit to 70c and using a fan to keep the pi cool enough that it doesn't become an issue.

@quicksilver what is the soft temp setting syntax to edit my config? Never modified it on my rpi3. And I use a fan and heat sinks.

temp_soft_limit=You can set it anywhere between 60-70. This setting only pertains to the 3b+.

With this, you will be able to change every config from pi to pi by just swapping the SD (You could overclock the B+, and when you swap the SD, the clock goes down automatically)

@Shaddonai that is interesting. But I'll being using whatever board has the best performance over clocked And possibly repurposing the old one.
