MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!
Notes:
-
We usually post hi-scores screenshots after playing with only one credit. If you used more than one credit, please mention it on your post.
-
There's no need to use RetroPie to join the MAME ROW! You can play it on any platform you want.
-
Feel free to post your hi-score (or any content about the game) anytime you want on the previous rounds topics (link below).
Every Monday we create a topic at the "General Discussion and Gaming > MAME Random Of the Week" forum section with the 3 random games to be voted. And on Wednesday we check the result.
These "rules" are constantly being improved!

Night Striker is a cool game, although I find it difficult to avoid things. Arkanoid is such a classic.
-
@obsidianspider Uaf... what a selection. It should be Arkanoid or Night Striker.
Night Striker compines some elements of Space Harrier - which I like a lot. It's definitly a good game for the Mame RoW because of short time of play.Arkanoid is SO classic. I remember my first contact on Amstrad CPC ... endless game play on 3" discs ;) "We used to have nothing that time...."

@cyperghost Nice score. I tried too and can't stand the arcade stick controls, as it moves too fast. Setting it to slower speed is too slow, because I need to switch back and fort. A slowdown button would be really helpful here. Originally its not meant to be played like this. In my second try I got the skip level item (my favorite power up :D, second is the slow moving ball) and got 14k without doing anything and then lost everything without doing anything.
-
@thelostsoul this game is hard as hell. I tried the CPC version which I used to play in my youth. This was much slower and therefore easier to handle. Graphics was ugly as always.
The best tactics for Arkanoid seems to catch the level skip bonus.
-
@cyperghost I think the original version played with a spinner is much easier, because of the fine control of speed. My arcade stick skills are low and this game is ultra fast non forgiving. My hats off for your score.
