PSP scraping?
-
I just recently used ScreenSkraper to get all the artwork for my games. I usually prefer to see box art if it isn't too bad of a shape or sideways.
But the PSP is different. PSP games already come with menu selection imagery and sometimes even video clips and menu music which the developers intended users to see when playing on an actual PSP. This is the art / music / video which should show up in EmulationStation for PSP games IMO.
How I do that?
(BTW, this isn't a post asking how to run PSP games. My 2D PSP games run just fine. I'm asking about making the menu in EmulationStation look pretty)

The scraper will get the artwork/description/video from a source site - ScreenScraper, TheGameDB, etc. and then add it to the
gamelist.xml
file used by Emulationstation.
If the source site doesn't have the info/video in the format you like, then there's not much that scraper can do through online scraping.
If you have that data though, locally, you can use theimport
module in Skyscraper to add it to thegamelist.xml
file that Emulationstation uses. -
@mitu I think he is asking if there is any way to somehow extract the menu image file, music file, etc.from the .iso or original PSP game that was “baked into” the game data itself for display on the original PSP, and then use those (extracted) files in EmulationStation.

Yes that is correct.
Going online to scrape games for other systems is good.
I don't want it to go online for the PSP. I want it to extract the baked in menu data from the game itself.
If nobody's written a script for that, then that might be a good utility for me to write. But before I go start typing a bunch of Python (seems like the appropriate tool for this) I want to make sure nobody else has already done it.
