      Hi Folks,

      I've recently built a RPi-based handheld system (resembling BMO from Adventure Time) using a RPi A+ and a fresh install of RetroPi. I'm using the analog video connection.

      The configuration is completely stock, overscanning is enabled n the /boot/config.txt file.

      The bootup sequence is fine, EmulationStation menu is fine, but when I launch any emulator, it appears bordered on all 4 sides. This leads me to believe I have some kind of scaling issue going on, as the aspect ratio is perfect (4:3, configured to use the core aspect ratio). I've played with most of the settings in the RetroArch config screen, but nothing is changing the scaling of the image itself. The only way I can get the screen to go mostly "full" screen, is by changing the aspect ratio to 5:4, but that's not really the way I want to go about fixing this.

      The screen is a 3.5" TFT Display with a (theoretical) 640x480 resolution, which is also a 4:3 aspect ratio.

      This is the SNES emulator here, but the same happens with NES and Genesis/Megadrive.

      As you can see, I suspect it is a setting within RetroArch.

      Here's my retroarch.cfg for the whole system.

        video_scale_integer = "true"

        change to

        video_scale_integer = "false"

        :)

          That made a difference. Everything got a little bit bigger, but still a bit of a border, more on the sides than on the top.

            Ah! So my borders on the top were actually overscan issues. My screen has some specific values I needed to set. They are right where I need them to be now, so the issue may now be related to aspect ratio. I'll poke around a bit more.
