@Hydro killer instinct 2 works. you need the kinst2.chd in
/opt/retropie/configs/mame-advmame/images/kinst2/
i wouldn't bother as it's about 0.5 fps on a pi3...

you must have the wrong versions... look at
/tmp/runcommand.log
and it might give you some specific errors.but like i said, there's no point. it's not playable.

Here is a link to information compiled by @Riverstorm regarding the CHD set versions as they relate to the various Arcade emulators included in RetroPie. I'm sure you just want to find out for yourself, but @dankcushions is right in that these games will not play well, if at all. Currently, the Raspberry Pi is just not powerful enough to handle the more demanding arcade titles.

Yeah, quite honestly, I've never run into older CHD versions than whatever the currently available set version is at the time. It's likely due to them being so large that there's not any good reason to keep them available. At first thought, you might consider them valuable for use in lower-powered devices like the Raspberry Pi that require older versions of MAME to run at full speed, but the catch-22 is that the Raspberry Pi and devices like it aren't powerful enough to run the CHD-based games to begin with.
