unable to boot PSX games on V3.8.1
-
Hi.
I am very new to the RetroPie OS and I am trying to have a few games booted. I ripped the games myself from original discs and it seems not to be booting up properly.
It goes like this: After selecting a game, it should boot. Instead, it goes back to the list of selected games.
Any way to solve the issue?
My RPi is a Model B+ 512MB

Do you have BIOS for PSX? You need SCPH1001.BIN in the BIOS folder to play.
-
Yep. I have it.
I checked the log that it was able to find the BIOS. The problem: It doesn't execute the ROM (which is the ISO file).

@anitokyomics do you have the extension .iso(case sensitive) listed in the es_systems.cfg? I think pretty much all my ps1 games are bin/cue. Have you tested the iso's on a pc emulator? (maybe bad rips)
-
@anitokyomics your p1 is probably not going to run psx games properly, sorry.
however, it should at least boot. .iso is fine as an extension, but maybe games you've ripped yourself is not the best place to start. who knows what region/protection they have, and whether they are ripped correctly. i would start with a downloaded game .cue/.bin IMO.

I ripped them with my PS3 that has a CFW (since it does clean rips than a normal computer) since I make ISOs for ePSXe in the past and works at full 100%.
I also did grabbed a copy of Crash Bandicoot somewhere (I don't legally own but doing it for experimental purposes just to see if the game works or not). And according to the github page about the PlayStation 1 emulator, it doesn't seem to say that it does not work on the RPi I have. So, it should work regardless.
Either way, the Crash Bandicoot I downloaded and the ISOs I ripped are still not loading. It just crashes back to the title screen.

I didn't check the es_systems.cfg. So, will check that out.
I have tested the ISOs I ripped and they all work at full 100%. No errors nor anything and they even work on my PS3 that has a CFW (where it was ripped).

Did you update the emulator since installing RetroPie ? There were some fixes in lr-pcsx-rearmed since RetroPie 3.8.1
-
Not yet. Will try it out now and see if it does some changes.

Alright. After updating it, now everything works like a dream. :) Thank you. :D
