I would like to get a version of Golden Tee working on my retro pie. I would only buy a trackball for Golden Tee. Does it work well enough to justify the purchase? Is there a brand of Trackball that I should get? What version of Golden Tee should I look at for best results?

      Thanks,

@cooldad5 There is some discussion of Golden Tee here. I have the Ultimarc U-trak and it's a great piece of hardware. Any arcade quality trackball would work well (Ultimarc, Happ, Groovy Game Gear, etc.). With a USB interface, the trackball shows up as a mouse. I find that AdvanceMAME is the best option right now for trackball/spinner control. You have to configure it properly, but once you do, it works great.

If you have a Pi3 with a heat sink, all of the GT titles work nicely without any special overclock settings. On the Pi2, the music warbles a bit--annoying, but definitely playable.

Having a trackball also means you can play other titles you might have ignored in the past, like Missle Command, Crystal Castles, Centipede/Millipede, Snake Pit --I am probably forgetting some obvious ones.

One thing that is nice is that because it functions as a mouse, if you also happen to use the desktop, or ports that require mouse control, the trackball is perfect, but you might think about dedicated buttons for mouse click.

I second the ultimarc utrak works fine. Also, the dual tankstick works great too
