inNext SNES controllers completely stopped working
-
This is my first post, so I may not know how to ask questions very well. So here goes nothing- A few months ago (around 3-4), I bought a set of 2 of the listed brand/variant of controller. They both worked for a month- before they completely stopped working. I couldn't use them in a game, the menu, or anything. I bought another set a while back, and I'm down to just one. I own and use a Raspberry Pi 3 that I updated just recently. I am a total noob at reprogramming stuff, so let me know if there's an easier method. I don't know if it's an external problem, because they look just fine. I need a solution ASAP before my fourth controller goes haywire and stops working.

Please add the rest of the details about your system, as outlined in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
To determine if there is a problem with the gamepad - and not a configuration issue - exit Emulationstation (F4 or just Quit from the menu) and execute on the command line
jstest /dev/input/js0
This will read the buttons/inputs of the 1st connected gamepad and you can press any button to see if it registers (the screen will show you the button press/release and the change in state). You can exit the test with
Ctrl + C
.If you get an error after executing the command, this most likely means the gamepad is not detected by the system and therefore cannot function (in Emulationstation, emulators, etc.).
You can repeat this test for each controller you have - just plug one in and see if it registers.

@TheRetroGamer They're poorly made. I bought a pair for $8US and noticed they used thin wires for the L/R buttons when I was modding one by replacing the shell and buttons from a real snes pad. Re-soldering using the same wires made them give ghost inputs or not work. I replaced them with thicker wires and seems to work for now.
A long term solution would be buying a real super famicom or snes pad and then using a usb adapter. I don't have a usb adapter to tell you which ones work on retropie.
