help with starting game with some roms (without having to select emulator all the time)
-
You're doing it backwards - instead of picking ramdon ROMsets and trying out the emulator, settle on an emulator first and get it's corresponding ROMset version. I recommend using FBNeo (the former FBAlpha) and picking the latest supported ROM set archive.
The.dat
files to validate the ROMset are in the project's repository - https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/dats - and you can pick only the NeoGeo only file to use it in RomCenter. -
Using rom center and fbneo.dat I have scanned all roms and made a set of it the roms load fine.
-
@jodiefoster The same answer applies if you want only arcade ROMs (don't know why I thought just of NeoGeo) - get the right ROMset version for FBNeo and you won't have problems with the ROMs not working with it - see the steps outlined in Arcade quick start doc page.
-
@mitu hi roms work but it requires me to select fb2012 or fbneo for some roms.
-
@jodiefoster If your ROMset is ok, then there's no need to select a different emulator. Set
lr-fbneo
as the default arcade emulator and that's it.
If that doesn't work, then please also add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. -
@jodiefoster In addition, you could show us the contents of the file
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
right after a game jumps back to the home screen without starting. If there is little or no information in the file, try to launch the game with verbose logging from the Runcommand menu. -

@jodiefoster said in help with starting game with some roms (without having to select emulator all the time):
1up arcade retropie os
We don't support 3rd party images - use the one available at retropie.org.uk/download. We don't know what modifications/configurations have been added to them. If you're interested in Arcade emulation, use the
arcade
folder to store your ROMs,lr-fbneo
can run the ROMs from that folder also. -
@mitu its the same the ui is different other then that the file system and path is all same and all emulators.
-
@jodiefoster The point is that neither you nor we know what exactly was changed under the hood which may be the source of problems you won't have with the official image. Only the person who made this custom build knows that, so you should ask them or use the official build.
