Skyscraper: display actual name of game - not filename?
-
After I've finished scraping with Skyscraper, EmulationStation lists my games by filename rather than the actual name.
Is there any way I can change the Skyscraper configuration so that EmulationStation shows the actual name instead?
More information
The problem appears to be the fact that the
name
tags withingamelist.xml
show the filename rather than the name of the game. For example:<gameList> <game> <path>C:/roms/snes/Blah (1990) (U) [!].smc</path> <name>Blah (1990) (U) [!]</name>
As a result, the game is displayed as
Blah (1990) (U) [!]
within EmulationStation, when I'd rather it just sayBlah
. -
@silver You've probably used the
--forcefilename
option when generating the gamelists, otherwise the scraped game title would have been used. -
@mitu That's what I thought at first, but I don't have a
config.ini
and I'm not including that in the command line! -
Hm, there's always a
config.ini
when you install Skyscraper. What version are you running ? -
@mitu 3.1.5, the Windows version.
The GitHub page said I should go here for support but, since I'm running an old version on an unsupported platform, I've a feeling I'm going to be a little out of luck :(

Try adding a
config.ini
and set it tofalse
- see here.
But it's strange that the title is not considered as the name in the gamelist, sinceforceFilename
is disabled by default. -
I raised the issue with Lars and he came back with this extremely helpful solution:
The bracket notes from the filename is by default re-added to the title, as they often contain useful information. You can disable them with
--nobrackets
.Works like a charm!

@silver Thanks for sharing the solution.
