Problem getting games to work in newly created custom system in ES
-
I'm on a Rpi3B+ RetroPie 4.4, using ES and Carbon theme. I'm trying to create Capcom Play System as a separate system. I followed the instructions here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Add-a-New-System-in-EmulationStation/ . I'm using the fba system as a template. I used a Windows batch file I found to separate the CPS games from a confirmed working .43 FBA romset. I currently have about 70 roms in the new CPS system. The games I tested works just fine on the same setup from the FBA system but not when trying to start them from the CPS system. The runcommand log suggests it doesn't find some ROMs but I don't understand what the problem is. Could someone check my runcommand log? Thank you.

The logs shows you the problem - you're missing the parent ROM (
ghouls
) and FBAlpha cannot find it in either the BIOS dir or the ROM dir..... [libretro INFO] [FBA] Archive: ghoulsu [libretro INFO] [FBA] Archive: ghouls ....

@mitu Thanks. I guessed as much. The Windows batch file I used was found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/73g1bg/how_separate_neogeo_from_other_fba_roms/ Other users seemed to be happy with the output of the batchfiles, but they are likely on some other os.. I’m having a hard time filtering the FBA romset. Any suggestions on how to proceed with getting CPS only? You mention bios, how do I know if it’s the roms or a bios mmissing? I have Clrmamepro (and have managed to filter the home console sets) but cannot find documentation on how to filter the FBA set, that’s why I used the batchfile.

@m2306 You need to use a Non-merged ROM set, so that each ROM is 'standalone' (well, except the BIOS files, but for arcade ROMs they are just a few) and it doesn't need the parent ROM to run - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Validating,-Rebuilding,-and-Filtering-ROM-Collections/

made 4 tools
1: Rom tester, test all runs on autopilot its 100% accurate, then all roms testers.checks roms using retroarch.exe if rom is bad, then sending it to bad folder for later test and send good roms to fixed folder.this way you know that all roms you have are working not like most testers I have used 1 or 2 or more be broken very disappointing results. -
If you want advice do this, install retroarch and emulationstation on windows.
test all roms before you work on raspberrypie. -
@mitu Thank you. I had read that guide several times. I can’t believe I overlooked that. I rebuilt a full non merged set with clrmamepro and then used the same batchfile I mentioned earlier. Now it works.
