Pi Model or other hardware: 3b+
      Power Supply used: 2.5a psu
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.5.1
Built From: Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: 2 generic usb joysticks
Controller used: 2 generic usb joysticks
      Error messages received: none
      Emulator: lr-mame2003
How to replicate the problem: I accidentally removed the .hi and .cfg files in mame2003 folder in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/mame2003/cfgs/
Then I opened some roms and some of the colors were not right, but some of them were.

Can you give some examples ? What ROMs have 'off' colors and which have not ?

@DavidB21 Either you are using wrong romsets for mame2003 or mame2003 couldn't emulate colors properly for those romsets (it happens a lot). If it's the later, don't expect a fix, mame2003 is what you would call a deprecated core with basically no support behind, you'll have to try with other mame core or fbneo, with the corresponding romsets.

@barbudreadmon in fbneo the colors worked, but what it weird is that the colors worked with lr-mame2003 for a while and then it stopped working.

Hm, I just tested frogger and there's no problem with it. I deleted also the .hi and .cfg files from the corresponding mame2003 folders, but it's the same. Try re-copying the ROMs over to the PI ?

Whatever you problem is its nothing to do with deleting them folders. The hi folder just saves hi scored and the cfg folder just saves input setting and dipswitches.

Mame will just recreate these folders when its done. It would actually be a good to delete the cfg folder once you update to the latest mame2003 if you have cfg files from the older version as there was input changes and its using the old format in all honesty.

I tested burger time on my pc and was fine there.

dkong had wrong colors in mame until 0.141 (so mame2010 and older version), i don't think a color fix was ever backported to old mame cores.
The right colors (which fbneo is emulating properly) look like this : alt text
(It's redder in old mame and old fbalpha)

@mitu I did that, and it didn't solve anything, I am just going to use mame2010 and fbneo for now.
