lr-fbalpha to lr-fbneo transition, enhancement request for .sh script regarding directories
-
Hi,
Had a bit of a break from updating my Ubuntu RetroPie instance, it's around 6 months old - but figured I would do a full update this weekend.
Part of this was updating the script (which was from around April), this meant that lr-fbalpha was going to become lr-fbneo. No problems there, and the update went as planned.
However, I noticed the following directories were not updated, causing some minor issues with mapping, custom high scores and samples (easily resolved with a rename and/or moving some files around):
Samples:
/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/fbneo/samples was successfully created with the high score dat and an empty samples directory, but I figured that the old directory of:
/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/fba/samples would have the samples themselves merged across to the new location, but this didn't happen.Solution - manually copy the content fba/samples to fbneo/samples and removed the FBA folder as I only use lr-fbneo.
Game remaps:
The old directory structure was retained after moving to FBNeo, meaning that my remaps didn't load out of the box:
/opt/retropie/configs/arcade/FB Alpha, or
/opt/retropie/configs/fba/FB Alpha, or
/opt/retropie/configs/neogeo/FB AlphaNew directory structure for FBNeo is:
/opt/retropie/configs/arcade/FinalBurn Neo, or
/opt/retropie/configs/fba/FinalBurn Neo, or
/opt/retropie/configs/neogeo/FinalBurn NeoSOLUTION:
rename the folder, or create a new map which in turn creates the new structure, then move the old files over.High scores / NVRAM files:
The old directory structure was retained after moving to FBNeo, meaning that any .hi or .nv files were not being read out of the box:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/fba, or
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fba/fba or
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/neogeo/fbaNew directory structure for FBNeo is:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/fbneo, or
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fba/fbneo, or
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/neogeo/fbneoSOLUTION:
rename the folder, or load a new ROM, which in turn creates the new structure. You can then move the old files over. This is a minor issue but I thought i'd create a thread about it in case any users update their existing installations and come across this issue. To be honest it's been some months now since the change was made in terms of moving to lr-fbneo, so it clearly doesn't affect most people.
However, maybe on a low priority, but perhaps one of the devs could adjust the .sh script for lr-fbneo so it updates the structures if it detects lr-fbalpha was installed previously?
Maybe there was some reason for not doing this, in which case no worries!
Thanks
