Sega Master System games and NES Controller?
-
Hi all, I am running a Raspberry Pi 1B with the latest Retropie build. I am using to mostly play NES games, but have also loaded some Sega Master System ROMs onto it. I tried to play Wonder Boy 1, and cannot get the character to jump high enough to get the higher fruit. From watching videos, I am only getting half the height I should? Is the output of SMS controllers different than an NES controller? I was having a heck of a time with the dragon on Wonderboy 3 as well, so I suspect that my controller (Miadore NES style) outputs a signal that is not fully compatible with SMS games. I have done some searching, and could not find and information on this issue. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Apologies for not providing more detail, but I suspect that it would not be relevant to this issue anyway.

According to the game manual you'll have to press both buttons for a long jump:
FOR A SHORT JUMP - Use the ARROWS to indicate your direction and press BUTTON 1
FOR A LONG JUMP - Use the ARROWS to indicate your direction and press BUTTON 1 and BUTTON 2 simultaneously.
