Retropie cause my wifi to overload and stop working.
-
I just recently got the Pi 3 B+ and i was able to do everything fine i installed retropie correctly, i set up the wifi properly, and got the roms to work, but when i tried to start up and game and everytime i turned it on after that, it would eventually cause my internet to turn off and i would have to go downstairs and reset the router to make it work. If there is a guide here already just post a link. I hope i can find some help for this.

Never heard of this problem before, what router are you using ? Are you using a 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz band to connect your Pi to the router ?
-
@mitu im using a cisco router that uses both 2.4 and 5ghz but it fluctuates. Now it has become that when i check the router neither of the lights for 2 options are flashing green.

@Moth-AFW Looks like a problem with the router rather than something that is triggered by the PI.
-
To check that this isn't just coincidence, I would make a series of tests like this:
- Make sure no other network device is connected to the router.
- See if the effect really happens whenever (or mostly when) the Pi does something specific. If so, try to narrow down the action that triggers it.
- See if the effect happens if the Pi isn't involved at all (i.e. the router is just sitting there for hours, doing nothing apparently).
- See if other network devices may trigger the effect.
- After (hopefully) nailing down the perpetrator successfully, see if it only happens over WIFI or via cable, too.
That said, like @mitu I never heard of this effect before, so I also suspect a problem with the router at this moment. For how long have you been using it?

@Clyde @mitu thank you for the help i really appreciate the feedback and found a solution that seems to be working. For my computer i use a small booster and so i tried putting it on the 2gb_EXT as a test last night, i just woke up and started using and having my phone as a wifi monitor and so far no disconnects.
