Top ways to pimp your RetroPie?
-
Hello everyone,,
I just built my first RetroPie and am pretty stoked! Now I'd like to add all the bells and whistles to it. I'm starting by adding the PIXEL browser and KODI but I'm sure there are a lot more things I can do. Recommendations??? -
@Limka If you use Emulationstation, check out some cool skins for that (called 'themes' there). Some of them are real eye candy.

Bezels/overlays and background music are great little addons.
Also I'd recommend exploring some of the optional/experimental emulators. Take for example lr-TGBDual, it's a novelty but lets you play the gameboy games in 2 player mode as if the link cable was being used. Or there's the lr-ppsspp, granted for certain games it won't run fast enough, but things like half minute hero work like a charm.
And lastly have a look into boot splashscreens and the runcommand edits people have made. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4611/runcommand-system-splashscreens
People even make their own bootup videos and hide the boot text so you get a nice clean video before the menus load.

True. I found a bunch of great looking, generic "loading screen"-type videos on Youtube and downloaded a few for my cab. You only see it when switching on, but it greatly enhances the dedicated-machine-feel!
