Cant install RetroPie-Manager. Please help!
-
Using Raspberry Pi 3
on Raspbian Buster
Retropie version 4.5.3Im running retropie from inside raspbain not as an image. I have installed it normally and updated script and all packages. I started trying to install retropie manager from inside retropie configuration menu (in experimental packages). It supposedly installed but when I try to start it says "Error: It seems that Retropie-Manager ran into problems to start" So I tried remove and then reinstalling, same thing. So I said I'll install it from the CLI so I can see what's happening.
I got "ImportError: bad magic number in 'project': b'\x0xf3\r\n'"
make: **** [Makefile:26: install error 1Please check the image below for reference.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Please add more info about your system - which Raspbian release are you using, what version of RetroPie ?
-
@mitu Sorry I just edited it now :)
-
I can't reproduce this error, but your screenshot shows a Python3 related error - did you configure Python3 as the default Python interpreter on your system ?
-
@mitu ummm I dont recall I doing that. Would you mind telling me how ? :D
-
You don't need to do that, I was just asking if you did something that would make Python3 the default, since on a clean Raspbian Buster installation, Python2 is the default. As I said, I don't have this error and
retropie-manager
installs cleanly.NB: the
retropie-manager
is currently an un-maintained package, since the author removed his/her Github account. Is there a reason you'd like to install it ? I don't think it provides any functionality that's not already configured/included in RetroPie. -
@mitu I just wanted to manage the game files over the network like some tutorials suggested
-
I don't know why it doesn't work for you - did you install anything else before trying this ? You can easily manage your games over the network using file shares, there's no need to add additional programs.
-
@mitu I removed it all together :D Can you let me know how can I do file shares?
