Help ! Can’t add anymore psx roms
-
@atomicgarden If you've freed up some space, try re-installing the
retropiemenu
package - open RetroPie-Setup, go to the Manage Packages, open the 'main' packages section and re-install the retropiemenu entry. -
Ok I will try this. But I don’t understand. Where is retropie-setup ? How do I access this ? Total noob here.
-
This is how you can access the RetroPie-Setup : https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/. It should be an entry in the RetroPie system, where you're missing the icons.
-
Ok, almost there lol ! I got into the setup. Opened « manage packages », then opened « main packages ». But I don’t see anything in the list about retropiemenu.
I see install/update all main packages from source. Install/update all main packages from binary, remove all main packages, and then there is the list of all the emulators.

Sorry, I meant 'core' section. Should be one step up.
-
Got it ! So I get 3 options. Update from binary, remove and help. I tried update but it didn’t change nothing. Am I suppose to remove it first ? I’m just scared that I could damage something...
-
@atomicgarden Update is enough. Now I realise though that the icons are part of the theme. What theme are you using - is it the default or you installed something else ?
You can also re-install the currently used theme - from thees-themes
entry in the RetroPie system. -
I didn’t installed or changed anything. This happened after I filled up the sd card space while I was transferring too many psx games.
If that helps, when I did update retropiemenu, I did see something flashing quickly. Something about gamelists.xml document is empty.
-
Can you get the EmulationStation log file from
\\retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\es_log.txt
and post it on pastebin.com ? It may have an indication for the error.
For the record, the RetroPie system in EmulationStation should have agamelist.xml
created for it, in\\retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\gamelists\retropie\
- if that file is empty or incomplete, then it might be a problem.Do you have enough free space now ?
-
@atomicgarden wow. weird. Can you send us a picture of what you are dealing with?
Also I recommend installing Easy Hax Toolkit if you don't already have it in your retropie menu. I can walk you through the install if you need help. It has a check Disk Space feature that I use to see how much room I have left on my card. I think it will be just as accurate as what Mitu suggested in Exiting Emulation station. I've never exited the emulation station so I don't know. Lol
EDIT. (Just checked and yes both numbers are identical). If you exit the Emulation Station you will need a keyboard to type in Reboot or Shutdown to get out of the Command Line.)
But what I can tell you is be careful when you are in the RPsetup area and installing new things. Avoid trying to hit the back button function (B button) on your controller and manually move over to the selection that says "back" and click on it. You don't know how many times i reinstalled something by accident that I just uninstalled. Haha.

This is how my menu looks like
-
Can this help ? This is using winSCP to access the files.
This is from /home/pi/RetroPie/retropiemenu
-
This is from /home/pi/RetroPie/retropiemenu
That is fine. If you're using WinScp, then find the
gamelist.xml
file in/home/pi/.emulationstation/gamelists/retropie
and see if it's empty. -
Ok, I just looked there. There is a only one file there. It is indeed gamelist.xml, but it is a size of 0kb. Now what do I do ?
-
Remove the file, then re-install the
retropiemenu
package, this should re-generate it with the correct information. -
Did you try selecting Detailed instead of Automatic?
Follow Mitu's advice and remember to Restart Emulation station after you updated or installed something, especially if the changes don't go into effect which most won't.
(Also if you bought a pre-loaded SD Card it may have come with several already installed themes...my newest card came with about 10 themes, most of which I uninstalled) When you hit Start and select UI Settings you may have chosen one of the installed themes instead of the one it came with. Let me know what themes, you have installed. )
-
That did it ! Thanks both of you ! I removed the file, then update retropiemenu in manage package and restart emulationstation. Thanks again !
