Roms with a ":" in their title are changed to %3A
-
I have been testing out the weekly buster 4.5.9 build on my pi 4 and noticed that any rom that has a ":" in its title is changed to "%3A". If I try to change it back to a ":" it says permission denied (via WINSCP). For example my rom used to be titled: Bonk III: Bonk's Big Adventure [U].chd. Now it says: Bonk III %3A Bonk's Big Adventure [U].chd. I know this image isnt supported yet but was just curious if anyone knew what would cause this? Im running my roms off a usb stick but not sure why that would be an issue.

Hm, AFAIK
:
isn't a valid character in a filename for FAT32/NTFS. Linux has no problems with it though. How is you stick formatted ? -
@mitu exFAT i believe. The roms were originally on my sd card and I just transferred them to a new flash drive.
-
My guess is because of the exFAT filesystem, the filename has been 'corrected' during transfer, since the
:
is not supported on it - and that's why you can't add the:
and get permission denied.
Format the drive asext4
and see if you get the same result. -
@mitu Unfortunately my home PC runs windows 10 so even if I got it formated I wouldnt be able to access it directly anymore right?
-
@quicksilver Since Windows can't read
ext4
partitions, yes. But you can do it just for testing, since the issue here is specifically Windows (well, exFAT). -
@mitu Yes the exFAT format is definitely the issue. Now I just need to figure out if renaming the few roms that have a
:
is easiest or sticking with ext4 but only having access to it via WINSCP. Thanks for figuring it out for me.
