Does Retropie support electronic tabletop games?

I don't mean the simulators that run via lr-gw, I mean stuff like the Coleco Donkey Kong and Ms Pac-Man that are playable in MAME:
I had a look in MAME but they just seem to run directly rather than through any specific MESS system. Just copying the game ROMs into my MAME folder doesn't do it, though. Any idea where to go from here?

@SpudsMcToole which version of mame are you using?

There was an emulator for non-cpu games, but sadly development stopped in 2014, but it does run a few.

@quicksilver All of them.

Here is an incredible fact from my arcade operator days. Monaco GP had no CPU, but it did have ROMs to store the graphics. It was all done with 74xx series logic chips. a TON of them. The hand-drawn schematics to the five gigantic logic boards were actually included in the owner's manual. Fortunately I only had to fix the optical interrupter board for the steering wheel, and the neck board for the monitor after someone backed into it when I had the back panel off.

@VictimRLSH That's interesting, but a totally different category of thing.
