FBNeo high score saving trouble

@barbudreadmon Great stuff, thanks again!
I just noticed something, though (maybe not the right thread): in Shadow Force, when you 'possess' an enemy (pressing both attack buttons while close), there's a little pop-up window showing a new move. This window flickers like crazy on FBNeo to the point that it's pretty much illegible. It does not do this on Mame2003+. (Unfortunately, M3+ uses the more annoying version 2, with 6 button lay-out.)
Is this an emulation issue? I'm on a Pi3B+ btw.

I really recommend https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/issues for bug reports, it makes things easier to track

A good habit is to search for a video of the real hardware (just search "shadow force pcb" on youtube and you'll find a few, not all of them were useful though), i found something usable at
Don't use mame as reference, there have been several occurences where bugs were reported to us because it was different from mame (current) while mame was the one actually broken.I pushed a test fix, thanks for the report

Will do. I've already been lurking on there every once in a while.

Good one, will do as well.

Understood. I only mentioned it as I noticed the difference between the two, so that got me questioning the performance.
I pushed a test fix, thanks for the report
Confirmed working, thanks for the fix.

@weirdh note that this game driver ended up having a complete overhaul yesterday, older savestates won't be compatible if you had any.
-
@barbudreadmon Not a problem for me as I don't use savestates, but thanks for the heads up.
Found another one without score saving:
gunfront
EDIT - And one more:
aligator

I added hiscore support to our taito f2 driver

EDIT - And one more: aligator
This romset doesn't have an entry in
hiscore.dat
, but some of its clones do, and their hiscore should already be supported by FBNeo. -

@barbudreadmon Ketsui doesn't seem to save as well. The
ket
version. -
@weirdh done :)

I've been reading through all of the above and can't figure out exactly what I need to do so I can have the latest dat file and enable hi score for my fbneo games.
Can someone please make simple step by step guide or point me to one.
Thanks

@simrose The
hiscore
file is automatically installed with FBNeo, you don't need to do anything. Just install it - from source if you want to get the latest version - and that should be it. If that doesn't work for you, please open a separate topic and add more details about your system, preferably also a log file. -
@mitu
I was just not sure if we needed to do anything special to enable for games.It's easier than I expected.
Thanks for explaining it to me.

Hello!
I was told to post here by a kind individual replying to my
post about issues with saving hi scores for Columns 2.@barbudreadmon identified that it might be the hiscore.dat seeing “Columns 2: The Voyage Through Time” as a clone of Columns 1. Not sure if there is anything I can add to my hiscore.dat to fix the issue.
3/8 UPDATE - I just tested using both lr-mame2003 and lr-mame2003-plus using the respective versions of columns2.zip. Both seem to be experiencing the same issue of the Hi-Score not saving. I'll get a high score on the board, wait to confirm it's saved, exit emulation, re-enter and wait for the scoreboard to show only to see it reset back to the default scores.
-
Hi there. Just checking in: was this, in fact, the right place to post this with regards to Columns 2 not saving it's Hi-Scores?

@mrmadcatz It is. If there's no reply, just be patient. If there are multiple issues that need looking into, devs will most likely not fix and report them one at a time. Also, high scores are pretty low priority.
-
@WeirdH thank you for that context and clarification. Someone else pointed me here in such a way that I thought replies would be faster or more immediate. Thanks for resetting those expectations for me.
-
@mrmadcatz Well, sometimes they are, but devs have lives too, so it's not a given.
-
@WeirdH Devs having lives is something I am well aware of. Thanks again.
