Do you understand how those entries work ? If interested it seems there is a tutorial at https://highscore.mameworld.info/tutorial.htm
Added support for
mystwarr

.Cool, thanks a lot.

No, but I could try.
Aaand both tutorials start with 'compile your own version of mame', so I'm already out. Wow, finding that hiscore information is not a hassle free process, to say the least...

I think standalone mame now has debugger enabled in its binary releases, but i might be wrong.

@WeirdH are you sure ? this one should save hiscores already
edit : nvm, actually the game probably doesn't save hiscores, the hiscore support code is in FBNeo indeed, but there is no entry for this game in
hiscore.dat
Uhm, it does now...
I decided to poke around in the test menu and saw some glitched characters where text should obviously be. I clicked on 'initialize eeprom' and had to confirm twice.
After that, the text glitches were gone and it now seems to save scores. It does in 'training' mode at least, I haven't yet tried the others.
-
@WeirdH ok, that means the highscore is probably saved in the eeprom, that's good to know
-
@barbudreadmon Found another one: Hotdog Storm (
hotdogst
)I am on FBNeo 1.0.0.01 now, so I don't know if that requires an updated hiscore.dat as well?

)Hmm no, i just confirmed that one's hiscores work properly.

I don't think so, i very rarely update FBNeo repo's hiscore.dat (the one i use for my tests), but maybe you picked yours elsewhere, or maybe yours is corrupted or something. It can't hurt to re-download the one from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro/FBNeo/master/metadata/hiscore.dat
-
@weirdh also maybe make sure you don't have runahead enabled
-
I think Bomb Jack (
bombjack.zip
) doesn't save high scores in fbneo. -
@saccublenda neither does bombjack twin
-
@barbudreadmon Thanks, that is weird, I'll do some more testing. I got the hiscore.dat from that very link, so hopefully it's still fine. I also don't use runahead.
EDIT: confirmed working here as well. I must've been doing something wrong again. Thanks for still replying, though!

I just added support for both.

@barbudreadmon Thanks.

i found another game that does not save highscores (or better: lap-times in this case): "Extreme Downhill" (Sammy).
I does under MAME, so saving works generally and its worth it, funny top-down-racer, great for best-time-hunting with friends :)btw: @barbudreadmon thanks for adding support for the SEIBU KAIHATSU Shmups!, awesome!!!

While i help with debugging and small tasks, the new drivers are usually the work of iq_132 & dink, feel free to thank them at our forum :)
I'll add hiscore support to our seta driver later today.

You are right, i allready visit your/the FBNeo-Forum daily, so i really should register there, even if it is just to say thanks for all that work!
But let me thank you at least once more for adding higscore-support to another game i like to play for scores :)
-
just found another one: "Butasan" (Pigs & Bombers) from Jaleco / "butasan.zip".
One of my favorite hidden-gems, i would be very thankful if highscore-saving could be enabled as well."Extreme Downhill" ("extdwnhl.zip" / Driver "seta.ccp") did not save higscores yesterday after an update from source. Did you manage to have a look at this game?
Thanks a lot and kind regards!

Could support be added for tmht22pe please, it's the only turtles in time 2 player game that doesn't need coin b inserted for player 2! Thanks :)
-
@tommkell FYI: i mapped Coin1 to Coin4 to the Shoulder-Buttons of my Gamepad, just to be able to play the character of my choice.
Of Course a real cabinet with 4 coinslots would be much nicer, but it does the job for a quick turtles or simpsons brawling session :)
