Need Help with Exporting Roms to RetroPie

@MarcuFinx76 he was referring to the .7z file of the game, not the .bin file (which should stay as it is). Use a program - like The Unarchiver - to unpack it.

@mitu Ok then. I unzipped the .7z file and got these two files. The .bin file won't show up on the pi's system select menu, while the .cue does show up but can't load up the game

That's fine, only the .cue file should be visible, but both files should be present in the folder. Do you have them both there (in the psx rom folder) ?

@mitu This is what the psx folder looks like. Both are in there but trying to load it still brings me back to the game menu

Try putting the bios file in the same directory. Sure, it's SUPPOSED to go in the BIOS directory, but the default BIOS directory location seems to change. It might work if you have it in there with the rest of the roms. (This worked for me until I found the right spot for BIOSes to go, which wasn't the documented directory).

@Thorr69 I'm assuming this is what you mean, but it sadly doesn't seem to change anything Where exactly did you end up putting the bios file?

The BIOS location is fine - but you should check 2 things:

• the BIOS file is correct - run a checksum utility like md5 over the file to verify it's correct (see the correct checksum at https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/#bios).
• the .cue file is correctly referencing the .bin. Open the .cue file with a text editor and make sure the name contained in it is exactly the filename of .bin file. Linux is case sensitive, so if the .cue file contains an different name (like CRASH BANDICOOT... ), then it won't work.

@mitu I'm sorry to say this doesn't seem to have helped. I'm still experiencing the same outcome. Here's what the .cue and .bin files are named

Add the information asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first and try to get a log file from the emulator (/dev/shm/runcommand.log) to see if we can spot any errors.

When I got the kit I put it together and simply started porting roms onto the pi. No other changes have been made since then

Did RetroPie come with the kit ? Try installing the latest image (4.5.1) and update to the latest version, then try again to see if PS1 games work.

@MarcuFinx76 Also try out some different ps1 games and bios files from different sources...maybe your bios file is bad or the game.

@mitu I got it working by setting the emulator to "psx-rearmed" instead of "Ir-psx-rearmed". I want to double check if this is a safe way to fixing the problem
