been trying to get my new retro pie 4 to work for days now. Eventually figured out how to format my 128gb sd card to fat 32 so that noob would work. I copied the noob directory onto the sd card but nothing boots up.

      I have a rapsberry retro pie 4 with 4gb

Hmm. I don't know what is normal here, but if you don't have any problem with not using noobs. Install raspbian, update the kernel then use git to copy retropie and update and install core packages and go from there. I think I read there are official beta rpi4 images to use also.

If you want to use noobs maybe Google about using it on the rpi4, I'd suggest trying the other HDMI port also.

@neogeoxsnk If you don't want to use noobs, just use the weekly dev builds.

update.....tried to install the latest retro pie 451 builds but none would boot. Tried raspberry pi imager and i would get the os running with game pad, mouse and keyboard. Any reason why the latest builds of retro pie wont work? Here are the steps i tried

1 - formatted both sd cards to ntfs and fat 32 with both builds. None boot up
2- flashed the retro pie 451 image with win32 disk imager

beginning to think i have a pi 3 and not 4 as listed on ebay :(

The 4.5.1 image released last year will not work on a Pi4.

beginning to think i have a pi 3 and not 4 as listed on ebay :(

It's easy to spot if you have a Pi4 or not - does it have 2 miniHDMI ports and an USB-C power adapter ?

Looks like a PI4 - it should say so on the board:

                  Pi4

@neogeoxsnk Well, look at the picture again. You don't need to open the case to find out. A pi4 has two micro hdmi ports. A pi3 has one normal-sized hdmi port.

Plus the USB 3.0 ports on the pi 4 are blue
