      Hi all,

I've seen similar posts in which arcade-cabinet controls work in ES, but not in games (me, too), but they resolve by hitting "Tab" and fixing controls in menu. My joystick & buttons don't work in that menu either. Any advice or hints would be greatly appreciated.
      Here's my system info:
      - Pi Model: 3 B+

      - Power Supply used: ABOX 5v 3A USB

      - RetroPie: 4.4 (updated on March 29, 2020, if relevant)

      - Built From: retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3

      - USB Devices connected: keyboard, Qenker 2-Player LED USB Encoder to Arcade Joystick and LED Arcade Buttons for PC, MAME and Raspberry Pi

      - Controller used: Sanwa arcade joystick and 6 bottons/player, 2 player in a cabinet I built

      - Error messages received: At startup before I enter my username/password, I see one FAILED message: "Failed to start usbmount@dev-sda.service."

      - Emulator: Using Arcade in EmulationStation

      Many thanks!

Thanks for reaching out, @mitu! I've tried Mame and Arcade within in EmulationStation (am I answering this question right?) I'm a total newbie.

@IowaBrewer But seriously - when you start a game, the launching screen will show you the name of game and the emulator used (in parentheses):

Which Arcade/Mame emulator are you using ? Btw, is there a reason you're using a 4.4 version image instead of the 4.5.1 version ?

I didn't see any screens like that, @mitu, after trying a couple of early '80s games. However, the following did show up at the bottom left of the screen in small print:
"100%: DragonRise Inc. Generic USB Joystick (121/6) not configured."
              Does that help?

That's just saying the gamepad is not configured, which you already reported as not working. Did you configure your gamepad in EmulationStation ? This should generate the correct gamepad configuration for the emulator.

As for the Runcommand not showing - that's the default, so did you perform any configurations on your system ? How did you install RetroPie ?

That reminds me of your earlier question, which I didn't answer, @mitu. I installed this nearly a year ago; I then didn't touch it as I was building my arcade cabinet from scratch. I did update it yesterday, but don't know if that's useful, here. I did try some command codes that I saw on various github solutions. I tried this one: https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection. I'm afraid I've probably been a bit of a bull in a china shop. I installed retropie through a zip I found on this website, but can't remember the method (again, painfully newbie, here). Do you think I should just start from scratch or there is a way forward?

Oh, and yes, I did configure the gamepad in EmulationStation. It works just fine as long as I don't go into a game :/

Looks like some 'command codes' might have altered your configuration settings so that gamepad configuration from EmulationStation is no longer applied.
Take a backup of your ROMs and re-install, it's the fastest solution. Use the latest RetroPie image from retropie.org.uk/download.

Bah! Alright, I'll go that route.
Hey, thanks for your help, @mitu. I really appreciate your taking the time!
