Amiga Gamelist.xml too big (take 20/25min to loading system config)
-
So i did had this problem before but still didnt get a fix for it...
I have a big amiga gamelist 5.5 mg' and if i remove the xml file to load up the emulation station takes a few min'(Loading system config...).
If i still have the amiga gamelist.xml takes around 25min to load up the emulation station .(Loading system config...).
Any ideas beside remove the file itself ? -

How many games are declared in the gamelist vs. the games that are really in the rom folder ? Try pruning the extra entries from the gamelist.

@mitu
97779
i dont have all of them on the gamelist u can say like 50%.
"Try pruning the extra entries from the gamelist." ??
My gamelist is really too big even dont have videos snaps just photos... -
I meant to remove the entries for which you don't have a game on disk, almost 100k entries is a whole lot for a single system. Are you sure you're counting it right ?

@shavecat A complete Amiga game set is about 4300 games. I guess you have mostly duplicates in your list, mainly different crack or trainer versions.

@saccublenda
Yes i do have like HDF ADF CD32 CDTV and so on...
@mitu
yes i am -
@shavecat Amiga CD32 only has 175 games, and CDTV about 30. Even assuming that you have HDF and ADF for the same games you would get about 9000 entries, far less than ~ 100000. I still believe that most of your ADFs are duplicates of the same games, that is, the same games with different crack or trainer versions.

@saccublenda
Still if i remove the xml gameilst the loading system config take couple min' -
@shavecat Well, 2 minutes is less than 25 minutes, so most of the loading time was due to the Amiga gamelist. Do you have other systems in your installation with lots of games?

yes i amI don't mean how many lines are in the file, but how many games are declared in the file.

amiga
folder ? -
@saccublenda
I do have more but the loading screen for them (xml) is short.
@mitu
i have in my folder 9990
and i believe like half is in the xml file. -

@mitu
i have in my folder 9990
and i believe like half is in the xml file.9990 is ten times less than 97779. You have 9990 files in your rom directory and ~ 5000 in the gamelist?

@saccublenda
If i remove the gamelist.xml from the amiga folder the loading screen take couple of min'.
if its still theres takes around 20min' ...
and yeha 9990 and around 5000 reg' in the gamelist.there we go my file -

If i remove the gamelist.xml from the amiga folder the loading screen take couple of min'.
if its still theres takes around 20min' ...Try moving your amiga roms to another directory to see if the 2 minutes of loading time are due to the large number of roms.

Ok, that is a number close to my previous estimate. Actually your gamelist contains 10233 entries, and as I expected there are many duplicates, that is the same game is listed as adf, hdf or uae. I suggest you to remove these duplicates both from the rom directory and from the gamelist. This should reduce both the number of roms and the size of your gamelist, and reduce the loading time. I have gamelists with ~ 2500 entries and they take few seconds to load.
