It will be released when it's ready, there's no estimated launch/release date.

One thing's for certain: once it does get officially released, Raspberry Pi 4 sales will increase dramatically.

@matchaman at least i will finally order one :D, and i guess you are right that quite a few others are waiting for the official release before buying their units.

on the other hand side a lot of people seem to try out the weekly dev-builds and in the states all these unofficial "In da Houze-Image from da Homies in da ´Hood" are quite popular.
Well, i hate all these prebuilts, but in the end they may prevent a lot of daily "WHERE IS RETROPIE FOR MY PI4??? MAKE IT HAPPEN NOW!!!" a little bit.

However: all these guys have their Pi4 allready. ;)

I've been switched from the 3B+ to the Pi4 for a few months now and I find it works great in almost every aspect. Even if features that don't work today wind up working tomorrow, there will be other features always in progress you'll wish you had. You can't really look at what this group does as a finished product, because I'll bet it will never be complete in their eyes.

Pi 4 master branch setups are so underrated. Except for the ES screen tearing. No one likes screen tearing.

It really isn't hard to set up. I feel like a lot of people think that a manual install is too hard.

@IceChes1 They're free to use the automated weekly dev builds. They are basically the same as a manual install.

I don't have a problem waiting. My cab is built and running great and stable w/ the pi 3b+. When the official 4 is released, I'll throw it on my pi 4 and swap it out. While I would like to be able to add more games that can take advantage of the 4's power, waiting for a stable release the hard working devs feel confident about isn't an issue.

Maybe they'll surprise us at the end of June. That'll be a year since the 4 was released ... but who knows.

@theissdev I haven't noticed any instabilities but I randomly play a game once in a while. Lakka on the other hand, is too unstable for me.
