new scriptmodules (lr-vice-xvic, gsplus, proper lr-mess integration!)
-
@CCFox uhm. same happens to me. lr-vice repo has changed and the lr-vice retropie scripts (both upstream and mine) has not been updated.
fix is simple, in all lr-vice.sh, lr-vice-xvic.sh,lr-vice-blabla just replaceMakefile.libretro
with
Makefile
that's all.
i will fix in a commit later on my fork. -
-
@CCFox i just committed the fix on my repo

I am currently installing lr-mess and it has so far as writing 4 hours. it is 3.30am here in England.

If you're installing from source, it takes a long time to compile. On a (stock) Pi3B took me more than 1 day. The Pi4B is more powerful, it's faster to compile and it doesn't take that much.

My Word
Had I had known that I probably wouldn't had started it! I saw that somebody had posted it takes a while...Bit of an understatement I think!
On a side note, in your opinion is it worth upgrading to RPi 4? I know the latest retropie 4.6 is in beta and I was wondering if the N64 and PSP game play has improved at all. I knid of miss the lego series on the PSP. I see conflicting reports on youtube etc and I assume you have a pi4 so I would really value your opinion. And I will accept it without prejudice!

You can do a binary install, it will be just as good.

There is an improvement for N64 and PSP with the PI4 - but I wouldn't discard the PI3 if you're just starting up with RetroPie, there's lots of platforms that work well and you can get to learn RetroPie's ins and outs.
-
unfortunately as far as i see there's no option to install lr-mess from binary. i did from source as well, on a pi4, and i can confirm it takes 2 (if not 3) hours.
-
For the Pi3 using the 4.5.1 image, a binary install should be available. Can't be sure for the new release (4.6), which is based on Buster.

"Mega Duck"? "Cougar Boy"?
I had never even heard of these things until the lr-mess-megaduck script was made! Now I'm spending far too much time playing with these scripts, scraping, and creating new artwork. But I admit, it's been pretty fun.
Mega Duck Overlay (work in progress):
Mega Duck Game Select Screen (es-epicnoir Theme)
Mega Duck Launch Screen (carbon Theme):

@roslof thats my theme ;)

@chicuelo es-epicnoir it's one of my faaaaavorites! But because I can't tolerate blank spots in the collection, I created a a ton of theme.xml files specifically for your theme. They don't consider/reference the vertical scroll bar, but if you'd like them, I can send them your way. Complete with name, short description, long description (without the period at the end, to be consistent with your theme)... I've been going crazy lately.
EDIT: Also, for the posters, I have just been duplicating the "fixedscreen.jpg" image so there's something to display.
Another favorite of mine is Hursy's blueray Theme. Again, I hate blanks, so I created my first image there for the IIGS:
I might be a little obsessed with the project!

thanks for the appreciation :)
i forgot to mention yesterday, in one of the latest commit i added Epoch Gamepocket (lr-mess-gamepock).
anyway ..... it's been a rush, more than 30+ emu in a week or so, some new, some fixes to existing scripts (i.e. amiga cd32 and cdtv), my raspi have now 83 systems, all retroarch.
i think i'm done with lr-mess, more or less.
next step, but this will take some time, will be a proper port of daphne to retroarch.... which is actually the only missing major emu.
i've made a c64 emulator last year as a personal project, so i should be able to do it.... finger crossed! :)@roslof nice themes, share eheheheh :)
-
@valerino That would be pretty amazing. I tried lr-daphne, and it was a bit of a bust for me. Would be great to have lr- supported and get a proper cabinet wrapped around it.
-
last time i tried only dragon's lair worked, with no sound. first thing to get rid of is the absurd directory structure. anyway .... this will not be immediate as these scripts, it will require some time. i plan to start working on it in the next week. i'll keep you posted :)
-
btw @roslof .... how do you scrape things like megaduck and other obscure systems ?
-
@roslof I will upload some new systems soon, tell me wich ones would you like to include and I create them!
-
@valerino I'm using the Windows version of Skraper. It's spectacular. It only scrapes Screencraper.fr, but the results get me 70-80% if the way there.
For Mega Duck, there were holes, so i found somebody that had all screenshots, box art, cartridge art, in a single file and i completed the set.
I usually search a little behind the scrape tools, and worst case, capture my own videos and screenshots.
But i can't keep up with these script additions.Lol!

Sure! That would be amazing.
EDIT: @chicuelo I just emailed you my additions and notes about subtle (yet significant) tweaks to existing systems (theme.xml files only).
Well, here is the list of systems I added to your theme. I'll ZIP my theme.xml files and send them your way. Other than their position in the vertical scroll-bar, they're meticulously accurate. Items in bold I feel have the most bang for the buck. Just my opinion though.
