      Hi Team

      Newbie question here.

Let's assume I can't clone my SD card due to lack of space on my laptop.

If I back up the Pi folder in home to somewhere, install a new base image onto the SD card and copy the Pi folder back again, will all my config etc. be there or is it not as simple as that.

      Thanks in advance :-)

      Paul

        It's not that simple...
To backup games you need to copy the folder: / home / pi.
To back up your settings: /opt/retropie/
And I still indicate the backup of the folder: /etc/emulationstation.

Remembering that the / home / pi folder does not need special permissions.

        The other two mentioned yes,
opt/retropie and etc/emulationstation will need it.

@pauly1705 Backup the ROMs/BIOS/configs, as indicated in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/#making-a-backup-option-2. You can copy them later on the new system, starting with the ROMs.

Backup your sdcard also, before re-installing.
