I have been running the manual installation method for my pi 4 since December, and it's worked pretty well for the most part. However, splash screens wouldn't work back then so I was looking forward to using them with the new release.

Once I did the upgrade I was able to install the splash screen package. Unfortunately after adding the video splash I downloaded, it still doesn't load.

Is this something that still isn't functional or do I need to dig deeper to solve this problem?

Did you configure the splashscreen with the video after installation ?

          I did.

I actually managed to solve the problem. I needed to do a sudo reboot and reApply the video, but then the video would start to play and crash and then the pi would be frozen. It would still work with ssh and with a bunch of tinkering I realized it was my overclock causing the freeze. I removed the oc on gpu memory and dropped the GPU and v3d clocks to 700 and it works fine now.

Not sure what made me try tinkering with the oc, but I'm glad I did...

Now if I could only get psp games to show up and n64 games to play decently I'll be set.
