What is the MAME ROW?
MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!
We will play the winner all next week.

For me it's Evil Stone vs. Iron Horse.
Evil Stone is different, supports a traditional cocktail mode, and is kinda confusing. I'd like to spend more time figuring this one out.
Iron Horse (1986) also features a traditional cocktail mode and looks like a "Wild West" (and less pretty) version of Rolling Thunder (1986). Just like RT, this one seems deceptively hard.

Played with
the whipthe bare hands (not the whip, I don't know why I wrote whip?!).
Score: 25300 -
I got my high score with the whip as well. I've tried repeatedly with the pistol and got nowhere close.
-
@IanDaemon Oh wait a second, I meant I played with bare hands, not the whip. You get double the points for each kill with fists.
-
- It's a shame that the high score list doesn't show you which primary attack was used.
- The punch reach is generous.
- The punch is much easier to use because when punched the enemies kill everyone behind them...for some reason.
- The punch is probably my favorite for scoring. I just need to learn not to rush.
Does the punch seem to require a "reload time" to you? It's nice that the settings menu has a quick "configure buttons" entry. That's surprising.
-
Made it to the first boss, it gets a bit chaotic there. I don't play anything else than the Punch, it's too good to get points and in my opinion seems to be over powered as well. Don't think it has any reload time, but like with a shooter game, there seem to be a limit for how often or fast the clicks will be registered. Hammering the Punch button is like a wall for the enemy. I need some training, didn't play with the arcade stick for a while.
BTW there is a bomb you can use with one of the other buttons. And you can punch up and down as well, not sure if that is possible with the other "weapons".
Edit: I just realized you have a score too. Didn't saw it the whole time, lol. So that means I broke your highscore. :p
My new score: 29700

All three weapons can attack up and down and all three get the flame "bomb".
I like Iron Horse. This is right up there with Cameltry and Spatter for a cool games that I never would have played if it weren't for the MAME ROW.
