        @Floob said in Arcade/fight stick recommendations:

        I just checked my notes and it seems that Bluetooth with at least firmware 1.41 should work much more reliably.
        I connect using the Mode 1 Joystick mode.

        If the firmware update doesn't help later is there anything else I can maybe try? A config tweak or something?

        Also for mode 1 it's just hold home button down for 3 secs isn't it?

          If the firmware doesnt help, you could see if you could shorten the length of the usb cable, or email 8bitdo.com support directly, they are often very helpful. Or at least post on their forums anyway. I found the firmware fix did it for me.

          Yes, Mode 1 is just hold Home for 3 secs:

                    Thats weird, it sorted it for me.
                    Try emailing 8bitdo confirming the controller model and firmware used.

                    Is it still skipping inputs as you mentioned before?

                        I think it's sorted. Reset my stick and paired it and then quit to terminal and did this:

                        sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules

                        I then added this line

                        SUBSYSTEM=="input", ATTRS{name}=="8Bitdo SFC30 GamePad Joystick", MODE="0666", ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}="1"

                        Restarted emulationstation and now it seems to work fine with no lag I can see :)

                          Thats great news! Nice one!

                          I forget which version of RetroPie you are using, but it should add that line for you automatically in the Bluetooth menu now.

                            Seriously looking online that was the last throw of the dice. Maybe the Bluetooth connection went buggy for some reason on first setup. Can't explain it. Anyway it seems to be sorted. Phew!!!
