FBNeo runs the game a bit choppy
You mean it has slowdowns or something on your setup ? That's weird, i just checked and it was faster than mame2016 on mk2 (marginally though). And as far as video goes, both emulator seemed in sync. Only the audio sync seems wrong, and some palette issue happening for 1 frame during fade-outs when they tell mk story in intro.

Do not use FBNeo. things mentioned above have been accurate. The game is included in FBNeo. Midway emulation is far from mature yet on the platform. I am sure this will change down the road, but I have tried it on Windows 10 64 bit and it does not work well, so I would avoid it at this time.
I wouldn't call it "far from mature", except if there are issues we aren't aware of apart from the 2 i mentioned on mk2 ?
-
@barbudreadmon not slowdowns, but it does not appear to be as smooth motion as MK2 on Mame2016.
-
@GreenHawk84 did you update and test the core since the frame duping issue was fixed a few months ago ? that certainly looks like the issue you are describing
-
turns out i just gave another try to the palette intro bug in mk2 and actually fixed it
-
@Zoltan45, I renamed my UMK3+ ROM to UMK3P and it works now for Mame2003-plus.
I still think MK2/MK3 run better on Mame2016, but this is good, thank you.
-
@GreenHawk84 @Zoltan45 the last remaining issue (audio sync with games using midway dcs) was fixed this morning, as far as we know emulation of those titles is now arcade perfect in FBNeo, so if you find any remaining issues please be specific in your reports.

Hello, when trying MK2 Plus on FBNeo I am seeing this glitch on this stage (not sure if it affects other things later in the game).
-
@GreenHawk84 i confirm this one on my side, thanks for the report
-
@GreenHawk84 turns out it was a typo in my "palette glitch fix" from a few days ago, the fix is on git.
-
@barbudreadmon so does that mean it is now patched or you are waiting
-
@GreenHawk84 Waiting for what ? Yeah it's fixed and on git as i said.
-
@barbudreadmon after installing FBNeo from source, I can say MK2+ seems to be working, I will continue to play it and report anything.
For Ultimate MK3 Plus, I am getting some odd behavior when I raise the volume in the service menu as well as when I try to set a stage for the coin-up screen per the UMK3 Plus settings menu. The game crashes when I try to set that. It also gives a sound glitch.

Thanks for the feedback, i'll look into this later today

I can't reproduce the odd behavior when raising the volume, neither the crash when setting a stage for the coin-up screen (by crash, you mean you return to emulationstation screen ?)
There is an odd buzzer sound when leaving service menu (i guess this is the sound glitch you mentioned ?), it doesn't happen with official umk3 romset so are we sure it's not a bug with this hack ?Edit : we possibly fixed your crash (i say possibly because i couldn't reproduce it in the first place, but i found some buffer overflow happening when leaving the service menu). i confirmed hbmame doesn't have the buzzer sound when leaving service menu so it seems like a bug on our side. i still don't know what you mean with the raising volume odd behavior
Edit2 : the buzzer sound issue when leaving service menu was fixed
-
@greenhawk84 Any news about this ? I'm still missing information about the "raising volume odd behavior" and would like to know if your crash and sound glitch disappeared with the latest fixes.
-
@barbudreadmon yes, I just tested it now, your fix seems to be working. Another thing I ran into on UMK3 is the screen went black during attract mode and then went unresponsive unless I exited to ES. Just start the game and let it go without coins or anything and see if it happens.
-
@greenhawk84 Sadly, the sound buzzer glitch already revealed some bad hacking issues with this romset (might be why it's tagged "beta"), so i believe this hack was never meant to run on anything that is not MAME (meaning it might not even run on an original midway Wunit cabinet either). It turns out the tms34010 cpu interpreter FBNeo is using for Wunit is totally different from MAME's, and replacing this cpu interpreter one of our contributors wrote from scratch by a backport of MAME's, just because of some bad hacking, doesn't sound right. So i don't think this black screen freeze in attract will be fixed anytime soon.
-
@barbudreadmon man, all that effort to come to this point. Well perhaps my initial thought that Mame2016 would be perfect for the MK+ games is still valid.

The Plus games are designed to be original hardware only. Anything else compatibility wise is up to the person/persons who wish to use it in emulation. Emulation only bugs are not addressed since there are so many variables to an emulation setup. FWIW I have no idea if the problems you speak of are present on hardware. It is and will be a beta for the foreseeable future and is likely years from a satisfactory conclusion.

@zoltan45 Thanks for the heads-up, we won't do more investigations in this matter though, the umk3 official romsets now work properly and that was our original goal. We already spent so much time debugging those games while we aren't fond of them in the first place, so tbh we couldn't care less about that remaining issue since it's not even game-breaking.
