@ReadyPlayaWon Amazing, I'll get on Prototype Killing time then!
It looks good to me! That's great. I wish I hadn't persisted with the 3DO version for quite so far into the game, but happy to start again.
Edit: I've played a bit of PSX Killing Time now and there are some graphical issues in the initial maze but nothing major. I've also had a jam on a loading screen during the game, so save often!
-
Has anybody figured out an elegant way to not have the .cue files show up in your 3DO gamelist?
-
@Zering not sure why they would show up as cue files rather than the games unless emulationstation is misconfigured, the 3do entry in your es_systems.cfg should only be looking for *.cue and *.chd. You could also save some space, and convert your cue/bin into chd...

+1 for chd :)
I've converted all my Dreamcast, PlayStation 1, Saturn and 3DO roms to *.chd and it saves a ton of space ! plus it's nice and neat having just "1" file for a game.
I remember reading somewhere people saying the *.chd files take longer to load or introducing longing loading times in games .... i honestly can't say i have not noticed any of that happening. If it is happening .... then those people must be talking about milliseconds.
P.S. For anyone playing PSP Games ... you can also shrink your ISO files significantly as well to CSO files.
The tool linked below works great !
-
@ReadyPlayaWon I'll think about that! Those systems do take up a lot of room.
My es_systems.cfg has .iso and .cue under <extension/>, no .chd though.

My efg_systems.cfg has .iso and .cue under <extension/>, no .chd though.
well, edit it to include it :) ... it's just a simple text edit to modify it (i use WinSCP ... and just double click on the es_systems.cfg to edit)
for 3D0 mine is this ..
<extension>.cue .iso .chd .CUE .ISO .CHD</extension>
i only include uppercase if my caps lock key gets stuck ;)
-
@ReadyPlayaWon I tried removing the .iso extension from es_systems.cfg as I have quite a few roms and converting them to .chd would take a while, but the .iso files still show up in my gamelist.
I am wondering if that's because they're already scraped? I have seen odd gamelists behaviours with scraping (ie. files not appearing natively that appear once they've been scraped)
-
@Zering If you have .iso then you don't need the .cue, I think.
Edit: I am doubting myself now though...
-
@AdamBeGood You were right. .Iso does not need a .cue file. I just tested it and it works. So that's that problem solved.
However, I'm now thinking that some other file somewhere is over-riding my es_systems.cfg in etc/emulationstation. I just modified it extensively to only see .Iso in 3DO, and to add a new system, and my changes are not visible. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

I am wondering if that's because they're already scraped?if you replace all your iso's with chd's ... then the simplest way without re-scraping is to open your gamelist.xml
/opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/gamelists/3do/gamelist.xml
and just text edit / replace ... for example
<path>./Crash'N'Burn.iso</path>
to
<path>./Crash'N'Burn.chd</path>
then restart emulationstation and bingo ... all the metadata intact and no need to re-scrape
-
@ReadyPlayaWon That's actually very useful, thanks!

Edit: I am doubting myself now though....iso do not need/use .cue files
typically .cue files are needed for .bin files ... especially multiple .bins (typically audio tracks)

I'm discovering Immercenary. WTF is this game? It's brutally difficult yet strangely addicting, and utterly bizarre. If you guys haven't already tried it I recommend you do.

When you say prototype, is it the full game? I am interested.
I haven't played through the whole game to answer that question (busy with other games)
But the debug menu in the game lets you select the "Starting Zone" of which there are 58 Chapter levels of game story to choose from.
The unreleased prototype weighs in at 653MB.
My copy always stalls when the "Osiris Hunting" section loads... I haven't worked out if that is essential to complete the game as yet. I'm just messing about with the Starting Zone at the moment, as a straight playthrough may come a cropper on a loading section.

I've spent quite a bit of time on Shock Wave lately. Great game. Brutally difficult but very fun. Runs flawlessly on the Pi 4.
Is anybody around here acquainted with the game? The third mission is kicking my ass. -
@Zering didnt think shock wave might of ran, thanks im gonna play it tonight, thanks

-
@AdamBeGood yes, the game is excellent, but it's also quite unforgiving. The lack of banking/strafing makes it very difficult, and the third mission is very frustrating. You have to kill all the aliens and destroy a command center, but I fail consistently as by the time I get to the command center I am completely out of ammo and I cannot refuel.

Has anybody noticed some slight improvements in performance lately?
Since my last update Killing Time seems a lot less choppy.
Likewise, the dialogue in Super Wing Commander used to crackle - and no longer does.
I can now start a mission in Heart of the Tiger when it always crashes before. -
