Are the individual ROM configurations also backed up with "Backup Option 2"?

If I install a new Raspberry 4 (now 3B +) and then I restore it, are the games configured again?

I mean, can I restore that to another RetroPie installation?

@treki Option 1 (what your link was for) creates an exact copy of your entire microSD card. You can use that to restore your setup to any similar Pi model. Unfortunately if you are upgrading to a Pi4 from a 3 retropie won't work correctly because the Pi3 image is not compatible with the Pi4 (different drivers are used).

If you use Option 2 and copy the contents from the BIOS, roms, configs, and splashscreens folders and the paste them to another microSD card yes, your individual game configs will copy over. the configs folder is where all of your system/game configurations are stored.

If you plan on reusing the microSD card when going from a Pi3 to Pi4 it would be a good idea to create a backup of your working image using method one (win32diskimager), it's always good to have a backup when making any major changes.

          @simpleethat
          Thx. That's what I mean.
I make image backups with dd (Linux).
          Maybe I change from rpi3 to rpi4.
I will restore the backup (option 2) to the rpi4.

Where are the RetroPie settings (RetroPie setup) stored?
So I could restore these settings too.

Most of them are in the /opt/retropie/configs folder, which is shown as \\retropie\configs over file shares.

I have now successfully ported to an RPI4.
Some more directories had to be copied.
              /etc/emulationstation (All belongs to root)
              /home/pi (All owner Pi)
/opt/retropie (Pi is the owner of configs, the rest belongs to root)
Additionally Dosbox had to be updated and the hotkeys had to be redefined.
Furthermore, the HDMI scan line generator had to be supplied externally with 5V (the RPI3 managed the power supply itself).
