REDREAM and dreamcast files Help Help please help
-
I recently installed redream on my retropie. I downloaded dreamcast roms from
somewhere
. It contains a disc one and a disc 2 with disc one having 3 bin files labeled track 1 2 and 3. A cue file and a GDI file. I transferred all of these files onto the raspberry pi and when I load the raspberry pi there are several duplicates of the resident evil to choose from. I really want there to be only one. This is driving me crazy. I attempted converting the gdi file to a cdh file and it converted but then the redream did not recognize it. I tried using cdmage to convert it to a single bin file but that didnt work the cdmage didnt give me the option to click save as which is what I saw in tutorial. Does anyone have any advice? -
@Crimson0087 place all files in folder named of game, disc 1 resident evil disk 1, then folder of resident evil disc 2, dont mix disc 1 and 2 togather.

I noticed that there was a cue file and a gdi file...I deleted the gdi file and this seemed to remove the duplicate.... Do I need a gdi and cue file? It seemed that they might have been redundant having both

you mean chd file don't you ?
i convert all my dreamcast games to chd (chdman 0.205) and 99% of them work fine in RetroPie 4.6 on RPi4.
chd saves a ton of space ! .. eg. Crazy Taxi 2 1157GB in gdi format and 99MB in chd format
for the 1% that don't work ... i use the cdi format
keeps everything nice and tidy having games with a single file extension with no subfolders and not having a bunch of cue and bin files.

No I do mean cue. There are two files cue and gdi....I deleted the cue. I tried cdhman but the emulator didn't recognize the file...I think deleting the cue got rid of the extra copy in the emulator...I'd love to do cdh but it wouldn't work....maybe I'll try again...any tips on how to work cdh man?

i don't know where you're getting the cue file from ?
When i download and extract a gdi game zip ... the only files in the unzipped folder are a bunch of bin files and a single gdi file.
The is no cue file and any of the game zip gdi images i have.

again .. it's not cdh, it's chd
you need to get your terminology correct.
To create a chd image .. i place chdman.exe (version 0.205) and a *.*bat file in the gdi game folder
double click on the *.*bat file and let it process a chd file
contents of the *.*bat file is ...
for /r %%i in (.cue, .gdi) do chdman createcd -i "%%i" -o "%%~ni.chd"
then simply upload a single game file eg. Crazy Taxi 2.chd to dreamcast folder in retropie and that's it.

Where do I get the .bat file?

I found the bat file..it came with the CHDMAN application. I did this exactly like you said as well as a youtube video and it did compress the file...the problem perhaps isnt that its not being compressed it is that the emulator REDREAM nor any other emulator will not recodnize it..If it helps I am doing this all on a windows pc and transferring it to the RPI

@crimson0087 I’m assuming you figured out how to get up and running? I’m in the same exact boat as you. 1st game I got had 3 bin files, a gdi, and a cue. I know redream says it supports bin/cue and gdi but when I try and run the game by using the gdi file the title shows up but it says that there are no games. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
