Streets of rage remake install help

-
Just installed filezilla and that appears to be uploading sor.dat now :)
-
Ok all in. I launch the game and it prompts me to choose a default emulator with 1: sorr being the only option and it's stuck on that screen. Am I missing the emulator.cfg?
-
Ignore the last one. All my roms are prompting for an emulator now. I need to wipe and reinstall the image. What's the easiest way to do this as Windows currently just sees the boot partition.
-
The error showing in cyberduck said it was trying to write in the ports directory, not the sorr directory.
But if youve got it working with Filezilla stick with that.If you want to start from scratch, just follow the guide here:

Reinstalling now. Then I'll do the git clone etc and ftp and I THEN should be ok lol
-
YAY it's now working :)
Pad appears to work fine but is there anyway of being able to pause the game via the controller and how can I quit out to retropie menu again?
-
@addyb Start button pauses. The only way to exit is by pressing the Esc key on a connected keyboard.
-
I had to remap pause to start button as it wouldn't work for me. Thanks for the heads up on the esc:)
-
I would like to thank Floob and anyone else that's assisted me in this. I apologise. Acted like the noob I am. Still at least it's been a good learning experience and I'm now a bit more clued up on commands etc.
-
@addyb no need to apologise, this is exactly what the forum is for. Now go and enjoy the greatest beat 'em up ever created!
-
Is there any way to edit the movement D-pad controls? I'm using a PS3 controller and only the Analogs can be used for moving, quite lame for this kind of game :)
-
@Charco or anyone are you able to select your character version (SOR2, SOR3)? It doesn't work for me. There aren't any arrows on the character portraits.
Update: Apprently someone installed it with more characters and the appropriate capability of selecting the different versions of characters from across the trilogy at the 1:12 mark.
-
So thinking I could possibly get these alternate sprites working I copied the rest of the files from my Sorr50 zip file to opt/retropie/ports/sorr. This did not change anything. I also went ahead and replaced the Sorr.dat 5.0 with the 5.1 version, which I thought was buggy, but appears to be OK now (this game acts so weird). It did not reset my settings or give me "first time run" screen where you select the language.
When I first installed SorR 5.0 I noticed that the Axel version was from SoR3. Something changed when I updated to 5.1 and now he is Axel from SoR2 but with the SoR3 portrait. I have no idea what is going on. The games plays just fine though (I think). The dude that got all those sprite versions and characters working said he copied his save file from his PC to the RPi. I still think the base SorR 5.0 installation is suppose to include alternate sprites for Axel, Skate, etc..

@GreenHawk84 The game starts with the SoR3 versions on first playthrough. When you complete the game and earn Store Points you can unlock the SoR1 and SoR2 versions of the characters, and any of the additional characters like Rudra, Shiva etc. You must have had a savefile with those characters unlocked on one of your installs and not the other.
To change character versions, press the "Police" button over the character on the player select screen. As you said, a little arrow appears on the character selection box if an alternate version has been unlocked. Hope this helps :)
EDIT: You can choose the portrait type in the game options too, so you can switch to whichever you prefer.

Man every time I come in here there is something cool to do that Floob posts. Love it! I just followed the video on this one and got everything running. Only one problem I ran into is I don't use a keyboard at all on my set up I have it all controlled by a Logitech F310. This is the first game I installed that I can't figure out how to exit back to RetroPie main menu with controller. Any tips? Thanks
-
@plasmah77 i'm using a gamepad also, at least in the first run you have to use a keyboard to map your controllers, after that your good to go without a keyboard.
-
@dishins How do you exit sorr with your controller?
-
@plasmah77 that really depends on your button mappings, i just press start, quit to the main menu and then select exit, that brings me back to emulationstation.
ps: there's a file inside mod folder, config.txt, set it to PSP and the exit option should appear on the menu.

@Charco thank you for the info. Do you use ver. 5.1?
